A Hauberk is a knee-length shirt made of chainmail. It is made of woven interlocking metal rings and they are exaclty 1cm x 1cm in measurements. It is made of gauge steel and is as naturally for the Hauberks used to worn over a quilted gambeson to prevent the body from being bruised when the mail was struck. The Chainmail was the earliest form of metal armor worn by the average soldier during the Middle Ages. "Chain" meant a series of metal rings or lins fitted into one another for a flexible ligament and "Mail"meant mesh of a net in Latin. The chainmail history dates back to antiquity when it was adopted by the Romans after potential of fighting the celts. The most popular material used for the chainmail was steel although brass and iron were also commonly used.
