Although worn by many Roman Units, greaves were not worn by all. Our replica steel greaves are based on patterns depicted on Trojan's Columns as well as other sources of that period. The term greave comes from the 12th century French greve, meaning 'shin'. It is a piece of armor that protects the leg.
