What happens if my merchandise is damaged when it arrives?
We make every effort to prevent shipping damage. We know that many situations are unique, but take the following important steps if there appears to be shipping damage:
If your shipment shows any physical sign of damage, you should note it on the freight bill or receiving ticket and have the driver sign it.
Please keep the original shipping carton and all packing materials.
Notify us immediately (within 5 days of receiving goods) so that we can begin the claims process.
**We are not responsible for damage that may incur to the product while shipping from you to your customer or its return to you. To avoid this, we encourage you to use sufficient packaging; most of our items come to you in a shelf display box that will not withstand the rigors of shipping.
Are the swords sharp?
It depends on the sword. The Marto and
Gladius lines are for display only, they are
not sharp.
Some of the swords have a factory edge,
somewhat sharp. A few are very sharp. We try to say
in the description. Museum Replicas swords can be
special-ordered sharpened for an additional charge.
Please email and ask about any particular one if
it will make a difference to your purchase.
If particular model sword is shipped sharp, it will
be noted in that product description along with a
caution. Common sense tells us that it is the unloaded
gun that fires the loudest; and the same principle
goes for swords.

Can I use debit card / bank card to pay for my order? You may use debit/bank card as payment, although when you use a debit card, the charges may show up twice. This is due to the way merchant provider processes debit card payments. They separate it into to halves: request for funds (they put a certain amount on hold) and pulling the actual funds (when the order is shipping). Some banks show these as two separate transactions, deducting the amount twice. Please make sure you have enough funds in your bank account and this will not create any problems or overdraft fees. We promise, we will only charge your card once when we ship the product.
Where can you ship to?
We ship anywhere within continental US
by UPS. However to Military
addresses and most overseas we ship by United Postal
Services. Shipping & Handling
Charges outside of the Continental USA are determined
by package size, weight and method of shipment.
Once you have finalized your order, we will calculate
the Shipping & Handling Charges and e-mail
you the options and charges.
What steel are the swords and armor?
Some swords
especially in our section with "Functional
Swords" are made of tempered high carbon
steel, 420 J2 Stainless steel, or 440 steel.
Other decorative pieces are made of stainless
steel. Some armors are
made of no rust aluminum or carbon steel,
but some are made of 18 gauge steel.
Please read descriptions
for more information.
Do you have a printed
catalog you can send me?
Yes we do have a printed catalog. If you are already
on our mailing list we will send you
our newest issue each time. If you are not on our mailing
list, you
can request a free catalog by calling
800-990-6692
or online.
I'm not 18. Can I place an order?
Only for gift items. If you're under
18 you cannot purchase knives, swords, or martial
arts equipment. A parent or other adult may place
an order in their name. By placing an order, you
are certifying you are 18 or older.
How do I keep my sword from rusting?
Rust isn't a problem with stainless steel, so you
don't have to worry about it here. For
carbon steel (iron), the best thing to do is to not let it rust
in the first place. Every time you handle
the sword or store it, wipe it down with a clean paper towel,
and a small amount of oil. This will
prevent 99.9% of problems. Avoid contact with skin, as skin oil
is acidic and can quickly etch in fingerprints.
The two most important things you can do are to immediately
wipe off any fingerprints, and never
store a bare carbon sword in a leather sheath or scabbard; the
leather attracts moisture, and is tanned
with acid which will eat the blade up over time. If you must
keep the sword in the scabbard, clean
both and then wrap 1 layer of clear palstic Saran-wrap or Glad-wrap
lengthwise on the blade, and then put
it in the leather. If you have rust, you need to clean it off or
it will get worse over time.
How do I clean my sword?
A handy way to keep steel looking great
during routine handling is to keep a reuseable
silicone-impregnated gun cloth handy, and use
it to wipe everything down every now and then.
You can get them at sporting goods stores in
the gun supplies section. Store it in a ziplock
bag when not in use. They are convenient, fit
in your pocket, inexpensive, longlasting, mess-free,
and safe for wood and steel; and best of all,
they won't scratch. This will keep the fingerprints
and moisture from being a problem.
For a more thorough cleaning,
A wipe-down with a good
quality petroleum or synthetic gun oil
and a paper towel (or coffee filter)
should work fine; just
follow the instructions on the label,
and don't get any on the wooden parts.
An exellent oil to use
is "Ballistol" which is an excellent
gun bore cleaner and lubricant. It is a little expensive,
but it works great. Another good choice is automotive "Marvel
Mystery oil"; sounds funny, but it works very,
very well. Spray lubricants may work
in a pinch, but generally are much less
effecive in the long
run compared to liquid.
If the rust is really bad, it must be
abraided off. Do not use Sandpaper; this
is very bad. You can use grade "000" (very fine)
steel-wool to take off the rust, but you must also
use a copious amount of oil with this; a better alternative
is to use synthetic "000" (very fine) 3M
pads; they last much longer, and do a better job.
The important part here is to always use liberal
amounts of oil in the process, and not to bear down
with gorilla strength while "scrubbing".
A single, smooth even stroke, or "wipe" gives
a better result. Just fold the pad in
half around the blade, and wipe lengthwise
down the blade, from
hilt to point, and be careful not to
slice yourself open. If you wipe the
pad down the edge of a blade,
it will dull it a little, so take this
into consideration; that a touch-up resharpening
may be required at some
point.
The lesson here is that it takes MUCH
more effort to remove rust, than to put forth the
small effort and discipline required to prevent it
in the first palce.
Also realise that this is a basic guide
for users, and that there are whole "zen" philosophies
in place on this subject.
