The black wooden handle is carved in an interweave pattern dotted with ornamental nickel silver tacks. The sheath is wood covered with leather and reinforced with metal throat and tip. Made by Windlass Steelcrafts. Dirk is a Scots word for a long dagger. A short dirk tucked into a stocking is part of Highland dress along with the philabeg kilt.
