Men of stature in the 18th Century knew the importance of making a strong sartorial impression in society. Therefore you should wear it with comfort and authority. Colors may vary slightly. Dry clean only. S (42" chest), M (46" chest), L (50" chest), XL (54" chest) The word captain comes from the Latin capitaneus, meaning chief, which is itself derived from another Latin word caput, meaning head. Captain is the legal status of the master of a ship at sea; many times, he's referred to as the Master. The traditional sleeve emblem for captains, both merchant and naval, is four gold stripes on the lower sleeve or shoulderboard. Many navies follow the precedent of the Royal Navy and have an executive loop on the top or inner ring.
