Steel Breastplate with Lions Passant
|
Steel Breastplate is a decorative breastplate with Lions Passant, made for wall display only.
This replica of the breastplate from a knight's armor is strictly for wall decoration but it will make your home feel like castle, especially if matching medieval sword is mounted behind it. This version carries three bronzed embossed lions passant, one of the heraldic symbols in the English royal crest. Steel Construction and authentic styling and size.
The coat of arms of England, the lions passant, was introduced by King Richard I of England in the 1190’s. Originally, it was a version of the arms of the Duchy of Normandy. Although an alternative historical version uses three lions identical to the English arms, Normandy currently uses two lions. It is claimed that at an early stage in the development of heraldry the number of Norman lions was not fixed and it is just a matter of design as to why England has ended up with three heraldic lions and Normandy with two.
