The Classic Hoplite Sword has a leaf shaped blade that was quite popular throughout the ancient world. The Sword's features a steel guard and pommel, with wood grip covered with leather. The blade is from high carbon steel, measuring 22inches. The overall length of the Classic Hoplite Sword is 28 1/2 inches. This battle ready sword is high carbon steel with a leaf shaped blade capable of keeping an edge. The Classic Hoplite comes complete with wood scabbard covered with leather. The Classic Hoplite Sword was a tough, effective citizen-soldier, and was ferocious in defense of his home city in Greece. While the Hoplite would fight fiercely amongst themselves, they were even fiercer in the fight against invaders, such as the Persians. Spear and shield were the principal classic Hoplite weapons, but swords were also carried, and when the spears were broken, the Hoplite sword came out.
