Ceremonial Black Tachi
|
Ceremonial Tachi is an authentic reproduction featuring elaborate 24-K gold plated cast metal parts and a mirror polished 420 J2 stainless steel blade. Ceremonial Tachi comes complete with a lacquered finish scabbard that is authentically braided and features a genuine leather hanging strap.
The Tachi was the original sword of the Samurai. The tachi was worn hung from the belt with the cutting-edge down, and usually used by cavalry. Tachi is the predecessor to the katana and is slightly longer and more curved than katana. The two swords were often differentiated from each other only by how they were worn and by the fittings for the blades. Dating back hundreds of years, tachi was the first sword that featured a long curved blade. They have since become a symbol of status due to the beauty of their decorative sheaths and their elaborate ornamentation.
