Roman Belt
|
The Roman Belt was primarily an ornamental Roman soldier's belt, called a "Cinculum Militaire." The Roman Belt was comprised of a studded leather belt with varying numbers of hanging leather strips and sometimes metal rings. The Roman Belt is based on one that was popular about 100 A.D. The Roman Belt will accommodate up to a size 46" waist. The belt worn by all Romans can be adorned however you like.
In ancient Rome, the cloth and the dress distinguished on class of people from other class. The tunic worn by common people, like shepherds and slaves, was made from coarse and dark blue material, whereas the tunic work by patricians was of linen of white wool. Military tunics were shorter than the ones worn by civilians.
Even footwear indicated a person's social status. Patricians wore red sandals, senators had brown footwear, consuls wore white shoes and soldiers heavy boots. Women wore closed shoes of different colors, such as white, yellow or green.
