Bonny Scottish Dirk
|
Bonny Scottish Dirk 11 3/4" long blade showcases crisp etchings of the traditional Scottish foliage and thistle motif on both sides of the blade. A 5" long, swaged false edge and a knurled pattern on the blade back mark this dirk with distinction.
The black wooden handle is carved in an interweave pattern dotted with ornamental nickel silver tacks. The sheath is wood covered with leather and reinforced with metal throat and tip. Made by Windlass Steelcrafts.
Dirk is a Scots word for a long dagger. A short dirk tucked into a stocking is part of Highland dress along with the philabeg kilt. To this day, a real or false dirk is worn as a part of traditional Scottish costume.
Overall Length: 17 1/2"
Blade Length: 11 3/4"
