The triskele toe ring measures approximately 5/8 inches in diameter; it is, however, adjustable. The toe ring is crafted of sterling silver. Triskeles are one of the most common elements of Celtic art; they are found in a range of styles in both ancient and modern Celtic art, especially in relation to depictions of the Mother Goddess. The ancient structure of triskele has been found both in pre-Columbian America and in Bronze Age Europe. It is mainly associated with the Celtic tribes. The Triskele is used to represent the cycles of life with in the three fold, or three spheres of influence in the material world. The three spheres (Land, Sea and Sky) represent the three aspects of the material world that are contained in every object. Each aspect flows outward and always returns to the point from which it started. The symbol also suggests reincarnation- it is drawn in one continuous line, suggesting a continuous movement of time. |
