Braided Black Sporran with Fur
|
Braided Black Sporran with Fur is decorated with a trio of leather tassels on the front. This rugged pebble-grain pouch measures 6 3/4" x 7 3/4" when closed. 46" belt. Approximate weight 14 oz. Flap has steel snap. The Braided Black Sporran is made of leather with a white fur on front.
A Sporran is a pouch made of leather or fur that is worn on a chain around the waist on the front of a kilt. Since the traditional kilt lacks pockets, the sporran carries one's keys, money clip, credit cards, identification, and (not uncommonly) a hip-flask. The sporran also serves to protect one's decency as a kilt is meant to be traditionally worn without underwear.
When worn properly, the sporran will hang just below the belt, therefore there is much effort made to match the style and design of the sporran with the buckle being worn. The kilt belt buckle can be very ornate, and contain similar motifs to the sporran cantle and the Sgian Dubh.
