Druid Robe
|
The Druid Robe is a classic pullover robe with closed front and a fabulous hood. The robe is generously cut and long to fit men and women, fits up to XXL. The Druid Robe is available in tough black cotton. Hand wash.
The term Druid refers to the priestly class in ancient Celtic societies which existed through much of Western Europe, north of the Alps and in the British Isles. The Druidic practice appears to be deeply traditional and conservative; the druids were conserving repositories of culture and wisdom. The historical knowledge of Druids is very limited. Of their oral literature of sacred songs, formulas for prayers, rules of divination and magic, not one verse has survived. Their influence was as much social as religious. Druids not only used to take the part that modern priests would, but they were often the philosophers, scientists, lore-masters, teachers, judges and counselors to the kings. In the lives of saints, martyrs and missionaries, the Druids are represented as magicians and diviners opposing Christian missionaries.
