Ornate Medieval Eagle Shield
|
This Ornate Medieval Eagle Shield is a full-size Crusader's kite shield with something extra. The background is the traditional St. George's cross of red on white. Overlaying this is an ornately detailed bronze crest containing a double-headed eagle. Details include curled feathers and a relief overlay on top of the eagle itself with another, smaller cross.
The Imperial double-headed eagle has a long and illustrious history in medieval heraldry. It was the crest of the Austrian empire and was then taken by King Charles of Spain as part of his crest as ruler of the Holy Roman Empire, Austria and Spain. It symbolizes nobility, strength and sovereignty.
This Ornate Medieval Eagle Shield is finished with bronze banding around the edges and riveted metal studs for reinforcement at every corner and point. There are other eagle crest shields available, but they won't have the rich detail and luster of this beautifully crafted one. Ornate Medieval Eagle Shield includes a hanging chain and handle for functional usage.
Height: 24 1/4"
Width: 18"
