The Steel Swept Hilt rapier features a hand forged high-carbon spring steel blade, 38in. long, with a diamond cross section. The Steel Swept Hilt rapier is handmade and has a polished bone grip. Made with a polished bone grip, Steel Swept Hilt Rapier is a very handsome and effective rapier. It also features a more complex hilt that uses rings and sweeping branches to form a cage around the hand. The rapier comes complete with a black leather scabbard (right hand.)
The swept Hilt Rapier was quite popular during the late 16th and early 17th centuries. It was the civilian weapon of choice for close to 200 years, from the early 16th century to the early 18th. In early 18th century Europe, rapier swordplay was thought to be crucial part of a gentleman’s education and was frequently used in resolving disagreements among gentlemen.
