Normandy Lion Shield is a massive shield measuring 46" in length, 24 1/2" in width and weighs 6.9 lbs. The Normans were descendants of Vikings, who in 911 settled down in Normandy (France) and established their own kingdom. They expanded their area to Sicily in Italy and conquered England in 1066 with the Battle of Hastings. The Normans were a mixture of the North Atlantic people of France and the Viking invaders under the leadership of Hrolf Ganger, who adopted the French name Rollo and swore allegiance to the king of France.
